How can two quotes be compared fairly?

First look at "what is not included" before "what is included": much of the price difference comes from whether removal, carrying upstairs, cutouts, visible end panels, and closing strips are charged separately. Listing the "exclusions" of both quotes and comparing them often reveals differences faster than looking at the total price; the pricing unit must also be consistent (projected area and linear metre cannot be compared mixed).
